Not all photo shoots have to be on a mountain top or in a perfectly lit studio with your best dress and smiles. In fact, I much prefer a unique photoshoot that shows off who you are as a person.
Sydney and Elliot first reached out to me when I posted my very first One + Done Concept (for more info on what those entail, click here). They wanted to do the Paint Fight concept I designed to document their 1 year anniversary. It turned out beautifully and captured a special date in a memorable way.
That’s why hiring a professional photographer can change the game for you. Instead of having to make all of the decisions on their own I was able to help coach them through location options, and wardrobe choices. Then, at the session, I helped them stay comfortable as they were slinging paint everywhere while 20+ people were milling around in the same area we were shooting. Staying candid and light isn’t always easy when there are people around and inevitably watching as you cover your partner in neon paint. But with plenty of reassurance and reminders to get back to the present moment, we captured some magic.
These helpful tips and gentle nudges towards the end result helped Sydney + Elliot choose to come back to me in 2021 for their second anniversary and concept idea, this time of their own design: Champagne Showers. This time we chose a more private location, but yet again, we got messy.
One of many things I love about working with these two is they give me an initial idea with some sort of activity that feels like THEM and then they let me take the reins and run with the concept. This is my FAVORITE way to bring sessions to life.
The more comfortable you are during your shoot, the more natural the photos will look. That’s why I ALWAYS try to learn about my clients and what makes their love stories unique. The little things that make their love theirs, and no one else’s. I love a good overlook session, but I love when I capture a full love story more.
Rumor has it we’re contemplating something with ooey gooey grilled cheeses this year. I can’t wait to see what messes we get into next.

Absolutely love working with you, Aja!! Cannot wait for this year’s photos!
